Disqualified Gymea driver faces drugs, stolen property charges

A Gymea man, 37, will appear in Sutherland Court today over two separate incidents.
Sutherland police were patrolling Jannali at 4.15pm on Friday when they stopped a vehicle in Third Avenue.
Checks revealed the driver was disqualified from driving until February, 2019.
Police also found cash and drugs — believed to be ‘‘ice’’ — in the vehicle.
He was taken to Sutherland police station and charged with driving while disqualified, using an unregistered vehicle, stating a false name, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and dealing with suspected stolen property.
Police stopped a car at 1.45am today (February 9) in Forest Road, Yowie Bay, and the same man was a passenger.
Police searched the vehicle and found five grams of methylamphetamine — believed to be ‘‘ice’’ — a trench knife and cash.
The man was taken to Sutherland police station and charged with supplying a prohibited drug, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, dealing with suspected stolen property, custody of a knife and possessing a prohibited weapon.
He was refused bail.
