Photo: STEVE GOSCH 0207sggnoo5IT certainly wasn’t the most pristine vehicle on show at the Gnoo Blas Classic Car and Bike Showon Saturday, but it attracted more attention than most.
Neil Campbell’s 1969 beige-coloured Holden HT Belmont utilitywas on show at Sir Jack Brabham Parkcomplete with 21 years of dust that had covered the vehicle as it was parked untouched in a barn at March for all those years.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw it – because I have always been a Holden fan,” Mr Campbell said.
“It was quite amazing to find it actually just sitting there like that.
“When we opened the bonnet there was a nest of half a dozen rats in there and they scattered everywhere.”
Mr Campbell’s father Peter heard about the vehicle late last month, told his son and together they drove to March to investigate the possibility of securing the car.

“It was dad who found out about it by word of mouth really,” Neil said.
Neil said his next task would be to check the car’s safety elements to prepare it for registration.
“We will have to look at the brakes, service the engine and then I really want to get it registered,” he said.
But he won’t be taking the car on the road on a regular basis.
“I really want to keep it as a vintage vehicle for shows like this,” Neil said.
Car enthusiasts at the show were also able to see a pictorial account of the Holden’s rescue.
