It is a positive move for new club manager Lance Chaloner, who took over with a vision of transforming the Shalvey venue into a complex of excellence for indoor and outdoor sports.
Mr Chaloner said it has been amazing to see how the idea of starting a football club has grown in popularity and is expecting big numbers in their first year.
The club will cater for juniors and seniors for both male and female players.
Mr Chaloner said they are expecting to have at least seven junior teams as well as A grade teams in the men’s and women’s division.
He said the response they have seen so far has been beyond his furthest imagination.
‘‘I’m really happy to get this amount of teams, I’d have been elated just to get half a dozen,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s one of those wonderful stories where if everything comes to fruition, it will be a major success,’’ he added.
Mr Chaloner said the teams will be encouraged to utilise the indoor and outdoor facilities to assist in there overall development and performance.
‘‘With the centre here we can engage with the kids for 12 months a year, not just during football season,’’ he said.
‘‘I think that’s one of the main reasons it has won so many people over.
‘‘I think there has been a real for a substantial football club in the Mount Druitt area and hopefully we can fill the void.
‘‘It’s a long-term project and I think it can only get bigger in the future. The more success we have, the more players it will bring.’
