The Victims of the Bushfire Community Volunteer event raised just 90 cents short of $3300, which organiser Andrew Broadbent said was deposited into the Sampson Flat Bushfire Relief Fund last Tuesday.
“It will go towards helping (those affected) recover from the bushfire,” Mr Broadbent said.
“I don’t know anyone who lost anything (in the fire), but I wanted to do something.”
The event featured acts such as DJs Jamie Pipinis and Jordan Jay, a dance show from the JF Dance and Performing Arts group, and a range of other local artists and bands, as well as amusement rides and stalls.
“Everyone I spoke to said they enjoyed it,” Mr Broadbent said.
He estimated 150 to 200 people went through the gates on January 31, which contributed to the fundraising total – as did barbecues and a silent auction.
“There was a good mix (of people), and pretty even number throughout the day,” he said.
Mr Broadbent thanked the Murray Bridge council and police for their support of the event, the Murray Bridge Agricultural and Horticultural Society for the use of their venue, Ielasi Carriers for the use of a truck as the stage, and everyone involved.
