ZONE 8 RSL bowlers have been in action for the past few weeks with triples championships being played in the Port Macquarie area and Taree, Forster area.
It is a very early start for Championships as some clubs are operating on only 1 green so some venues had to have date changes, but after some manipulating all games were completed.
Zone 8 now has social championships played in tandem with the RSL championships and these are proving to be fairly popular with the social players who support the zone on the social bowls days.
The results are as follows:
RSL first play started on January 14 and concluded on February 6.
All games were well contested.
In one semi final, Jim Rook’s team of Steve Phillips and Dave Penman were defeated by George Barker, Dave Pateman and skip Frank Ryan by a narrow margin of two points whilst M Williams, B Sloggett and skip Stewart Hodges defeated G Gilford, B Wolters and skip B Kershaw by nine points.
The final between F Ryan and S Hodges was a win for Frank Ryans’ team 21 to 9 congratulations to Frank and his team, they will now go on to contest the State triples championships at a later date.
In the social championships the semi finals between G Bridge, J Lee and skip T Gutterson against P Forsyth, P Griffiths and S Webster and S Grimshaw, D Begley and skip T Reeves against K Cooney, M Leo and skip D Porter resulted with wins to S Webster and T Reeves.
The final was won by S Webster.
To all players who competed thank you for your support and to the winners well done and congratulations.
Our first social outing for 2015 is at Port Macquarie City Bowling club on February 16.
